Meditation Techniques to Activate Your Third Eye
Your third eye is an invisible inner eye that is said to be a gateway to the higher levels of consciousness and enhanced perception. It is said to be closely related to the sixth chakra of the body, i.e., the Ajna chakra, which is linked to intuition and insight. This chakra is located on the temple, in between our eyebrows. That’s also where our third eye is said to be. Click here to know more about chakras!
A person with access to their third eye can sense things that our five senses can’t pick up. They have more clarity of thought and find it easy to rid their bodies from hindrances that block the flow of energy within. However, our third eye often remains dormant unless we actively take steps to hone the power it possesses.
So, how can we activate our third eye? Meditation is what you should begin with.
1.Find a peaceful spot and get rid of distractions: You should ideally meditate in a silent place, away from people, technology and everything that can potentially distract you. A clutter-free environment would be even better.
2.Align your chakras and get comfortable: Sit cross-legged and upright with your spine straight to ensure that all seven of your chakras fall in a straight line. Relax your muscles and start visualizing the flow of energy from mother earth, which is passing through your first chakra and activating your kundalini energy. And now, this kundalini energy is awakening and starting to spread through your every chakra, including your whole body. Go deeper into imagination, after which, you’ll start feeling the vibration and energy. (Approx 10 min).
3.Shift your attention to your breathing: Inhale and exhale at rhythmic counts. Feel the warmth and energy flowing through you, for every breath you take in life, force energy with full positivity and expel negative thoughts with every breath you let out. (Approx 10 Min).
4.Focus on your third eye: Move your attention to the area between your eyebrows, where your third eye is located. Imagine the flow of energy within you being channeled towards your third eye. Imagine light in your third chakra expanding and enveloping your third eye. While you do need to focus here, don’t try to force thoughts away. Your thoughts in this process may contain information that is accessible at higher levels of consciousness. (Approx 5 Min).
5.Work on your sixth chakra: The Ajna chakra is associated with the color Focus on this color and feel the energy flow through this chakra. (Approx 5 Min).
6.Take it all in: With practice, you’ll begin to interpret information that can’t be taken in without your third eye, e.g. aura energies. Allow your mind to wander and sense things through your third eye during meditation. (Approx 5 Min).
7.Let go: Now integrate this whole process and lie down.
These third eye meditation techniques are a good way to begin. It’s important to know that the process of activating your third eye requires patience and practice. Not being able to access your third eye doesn’t mean you won’t ever be able to do so. It may simply mean that there is a blockage in your Ajna chakra, for which you need to focus on chakra meditation or chakra healing first. With enough practice, you will soon be able to gain deeper insights into things and perceive the world around you in a new, enhanced way.
