The Scientific Meaning Of Shiva Linga
The Shiva Linga is a symbol that represents Lord Shiva, who is one of the most powerful gods in Hinduism. Shiva Linga is also known as Lingam, and many temples were built in honor of Lord Shiva that includes a Lingam.
Some people believe that Linga symbolizes the reproductive organ of the male. They think that Shiva Lingam is nothing but Phallus, a symbol of generative power in nature. However, this is a wrong assumption!!
In Sanskrit, Linga refers to a “symbol” or “mark” that points to an inference. So, it is fair to conclude that Siva Lingam symbolizes the formless and omnipotent lord. The original Lingams were Salagramas that were oval or egg-shaped. It represents the solar system, as well as the galaxy. Egg-shaped Shiva Linga also represents the cosmic egg or the Brahmanda.
Many people worship Shiva Linga without knowing its scientific significance. But in this post, we will bring out the scientific meaning of Shiva Linga under the light.
Scientific Meaning and Significance of Shiva Linga
Hiranyagarbha is known as the beginning of life. According to this formula of life, this is a thread that reproduces itself without any organ. It multiplies itself from a single unit to 2, from 2 to 4, then 4 to 8, and so on. Now, if you think carefully, then you will understand that this is the basic formula of life. You can also compare it with DNA that contains the genetic code.
Back in 1953, scientists described the concept of DNA before that no one ever imagined its structure. It is still challenging to explain the structure of the DNA to a common man. However, with the help of 3D models, it has become possible to some extent. But Indian sages saw the structure of DNA through their meditation and explained it as modern science does through 3D structures.
According to Hindu scriptures, DNA was first originated from Lord Shiva. The structure of DNA can be described as the intertwined spiral staircase. Our sages imagined this round mound as a Shiva Linga that was wrapped with a snake.
Now imagine what it could be except the model of DNA? The complex model of DNA can be visualized as two snakes wrapped around each other as they are representing a double helix. According to them, this is the base structure, and the whole nature has begun with it.
You can also see the smallest form of nature in the Shiva Linga, as it also represents the atomic structure. During the creation of Shiva Linga, it was imagined as there was one Har and one Hari in the Lingam. The Hari is Vishnu, and Har is Shiva.
Both of them are present in the Lingam. You will also find there three lines in the Lingam. In Sanskrit 3 stands for “multiple.” When it comes to the atomic structure, you will find neutrons and protons in the middle of the atom that is surrounded by spinning electrons.
Ancient sages also imagined that Lingam has Hari (proton) and Har (neutron) inside, while Brahma (electron) spins around them in the shape of Jalhari. When the Shiva gets angry, it can be compared with the breaking of the nucleus and energy releases in the form of Durga. This energy is atomic energy, as described in modern science.
